Sunday was a beautiful day for a fun, outdoor event like the Washington Township Firefighters Association’s Annual Ice Cream Social. This year, the event was held at the station on Clyo Rd. and Centerville Business Parkway. I was excited to take our son and see what this event was all about!
We made it to the event shortly after it started at 11:00 a.m., and it was great not to fight crowds for parking or activities! There was TONS for kids of all ages to do, and everywhere you went, volunteers were holding buckets of candy for the kids…
Naturally, my son totally gravitated toward the sporty events, including the football and basketball toss games, mini golf, and cornhole!
He also got to me “Sparky” the dog, who had all the kids smiling! 🙂
His favorite part of the whole event was when he got to hold a REAL fire hose and knock down some flames! For a kid who loves playing with water and garden hoses, this had to be a dream come true. 🙂
Although it wasn’t happening until later that afternoon, we got to see the firetruck that was going to get painted!
Here’s what it looked like last year!
Even though the event was an ICE CREAM, we didn’t eat any ice cream. 🙁 Boo, right?! Well, it was right before lunchtime and though we were hungry, the lines for food were LONG. And besides – Dylan is weird about very cold food (like ice cream) and doesn’t usually eat it, so we opted to just leave when we got hungry and eat lunch at home. I did take a peek at some bowls as we were leaving though, and it looked like they had some great flavors – and GENEROUS portions! We’re definitely trying it next year. 🙂 We had so much fun and are already looking forward to next year’s event!!!
