Today I’m featuring my second of five fun activities to do with your kids this Memorial Day weekend, and this one couldn’t be simpler! A quick-to-assemble game of Balloon Tennis is inexpensive and sure to challenge even the grown-ups at your summer holiday get-together, and it was featured today during my appearance on Living Dayton.
To assemble this game, you only need FOUR things:
- Paper plates
- Hot glue gun (or duct tape)
- Large popsicle sticks/craft sticks (or paint stir sticks, or flyswatters)
Here are the craft sticks I picked up from Walmart. They’re big!
I also picked up some patriotic paper plates…
Next, I added some hot glue to the craft stick…
… and stuck it on the back of the plate. DONE.
Finally, I asked my cute son to pose for a picture with the finished product. 🙂
He couldn’t wait to go outside and try it out!
I made a second “paddle”, then blew up a balloon and took the game outside.
It was a little harder than I expected!
The breeze definitely didn’t work in our favor and the balloon was hard to control. It would probably work better indoors!
Once we got the hang of it, we had so much fun trying to keep the balloon off the grass!
Overall, it was a SUPER simple and fun craft that I know my son will be asking to play with again and again!
Hope you enjoyed this and plan to try it with your kids, too! Let me know how it turns out!
