Recently my little family decided to make a spontaneous trip to Oakwood together. My hubs had a haircut appointment there, so Dylan and I tagged along with him to make it a family outing. I have driven through the Shops of Oakwood many times, especially when I worked at the University of Dayton. But believe it or not, the only shopping I’ve ever done there has been at Dorothy Lane Market and Starbucks. I obviously have a lot more to explore!
Having the little one in tow, I definitely knew I wanted to check out Blue Turtle Toys. I’d heard it was a unique, fun store filled with toys of every kind, so I thought Dylan would really have a ball there. I was right!
As soon as you walk in, there is SO MUCH to see!
Of course, my boy went straight for the first ball that caught his eye. (ALL BOY, this one.)
I loved these adorable banks!
They also carry a great selection of Melissa & Doug toys, which are a huge hit in our house. When we visited, all Melissa & Doug toys were on sale, too!
I was SO CLOSE to buying this adorable little mailbox for D!
I also fell in love with these little wooden letters on wheels called Name Trains that can be joined together to make a word. ADORABLE!
It’s great that Blue Turtle Toys also has a fun area in the back of the store where many toys are open for play! It definitely helped give “Santa” some idea of what Dylan may want for Christmas! 🙂
Before we left, I had to get a shot of this adorable hand puppet. Hilarious, right?! Only a place as fun and unique as Blue Turtle Toys would carry a raccoon-in-a-trashcan puppet.
I also love that Blue Turtle Toys features toys made locally and within the USA. They place an emphasis on stocking quality, well-made toys – and it shows!
If you have young ones to buy for this holiday season (and really, who doesn’t), you should take the time to swing by Blue Turtle Toys for unique, well-made and FUN toys for kids of any age. And with Small Business Saturday coming up on November 29, why not support a local Dayton shop and avoid the big-box insanity?
Hope you’ve enjoyed my little tour! Happy holiday shopping! 🙂
